LA COMÈTE-SCÈNE NATIONALE DE CHÂLONS-ENCHAMPAGNE

Créée en 1996, la Comète est l’une des 70 Scènes nationales de France. Elle est située au coeur de Châlons-en-Champagne, capitale de la Région Champagne-Ardenne. Dirigée depuis 2004 par le compositeur Philippe Bachman, elle a considérablement développé ses activités. Elle présente une programmation diversifiée touchant toutes les disciplines du spectacle vivant ainsi que le cinéma et enregistre chaque saison plus de 60.000 entrées. Des créateurs et interprètes internationaux y travaillent comme artistes associés et elle produit ou co-produit des artistes de plus de 40 pays, offrant régulièrement des premières mondiales, à l’exemple du Dragon Bleu de Robert Lepage en avril 2008. A l’initiative de sa création en 2008, la Comète coordonne le Réseau International 360°. Depuis 2013, le Festival International de Cinéma War on Screen renforce son rayonnement tant local qu’international.

Founded in 1996, La Comète is one of France’s 70 major nationalPerforming Arts Centers or “scènes nationales”. It is located at the very heart of Châlons-en-Champagne, the capital of the Champgane-Ardenne region. Since 2004, under the directorship of composer Philippe Bachman, it has expanded its activities considerably,putting on a diverse programme covering the full range of performing arts as well as cinema to audiences of over 60,000 every season. Artists and performers from around the world work as Associate Artists at La Comète and the venue produces or co-produces shows by artists from over 40 countries, regularly offering world premieres such as Robert Lepage’s Blue Dragon in April 2008. La Comète has coordinated the 360° International Network since it was founded in 2008. Since 2013, War on Screen International Film Festival has served to boost the venue’s influence both locally and internationally.

RÉSEAU 360°

Sous l’impulsion de Philippe Bachman, la Comète a initié et coordonne le Réseau 360°. A l’instar du cirque historique de Châlons-en-Champagne, il rassemble 18 lieux d’architecture circulaire à vocation artistique, situés dans 11 pays. Le réseau a publié le livre Créer à 360°. Il organise des échanges de savoir-faire ainsi que des programmes pédagogiques. Il impulse auprès d’artistes de tous horizons la création d’oeuvres à 360°. Le chanteur Bobby McFerrin s’est produit au Cirque de Châlons en 2012. Le réseau a initié Jeux de Cartes, un cycle de 4 spectacles de Robert Lepage conçu spécifiquement pour les espaces circulaires et a commandé une nouvelle création au chorégraphe Akram Khan.

360° NETWORK

Under the leadership of Philippe Bachman la Comète initiated the 360° network and coordinates it. With its basis in the historical circus building of Châlons-en-Champagne, it brings together 18 round arts venues, located in 11 countries. The network got a publication out: Creating in the Round. It allows for exchanges of professional knowledge and educational programmes. It stimulates creation for the round in all kinds of arts; Bobby McFerrin performed solo in Châlons’s circus for the network’s launching in April 2012.The 360° network initiated Playing Cards,a 4-part show by Robert Lepage created specifically for round spaces.
