Concerning the play

Presentation :

Lear has had a wall built around his kingdom. Thus - or so he thinks - he will be protected from his sworn enemies: the dukes of the North and of Cornwall. But his daughters, his very own daughters, have resolved to marry these same dukes of the North and of Cornwall.
Thus married, the two Furies raise an army against their father, torture the faithful Warrington, plot against their husbands then conspire against each other, and invite their armies to perpetrate the crimes of rape, murder, pillage, and the rest. Cordelia, a victim of one of these rapes, in turn raises an rebel army against the barbarity.
